One of only two Texas colleges selected, Texas Christian University was named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.
"The beauty of campus influences a prospective student's first impressions and can sway the decision about college choice, experts say," U.S. News wrote. Colleges were recognized for attributes such as stunning architecture, picturesque settings or spectacular landscaping.
TCU was especially noted for its centerpiece.
"One landmark on the Fort Worth-based campus is Frog Fountain, which consists of four flutes topped with stylized lotus leaves - one for each class of students, with the shortest symbolizing freshmen and the tallest representing seniors," the entry said. "The water flowing from flute to flute represents the sharing of knowledge from class to class."
The publication also cites TCU's status as a continuously recognized Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
