Blizzard of February 22 and 23, 2026

A snapshot of the fire department response activity during the Blizzard of February 22 and 23, 2026:

Fire companies responded to 90 emergency incidents during the storm. These included 8 fires on the stove or in the oven which were quickly contained; 43 emergency medical responses; 1 elevator rescue; 6 electrical hazards or wires down; 2 carbon monoxide incidents; 14 alarm activations; and 16 public assist calls.

Fire companies (including engines, ladders, squads, rescue, and division chiefs) made 197 individual responses during the storm.


Special thank you to the staff of Cambridge Emergency Communications for maintaining their professionalism & calmness, getting the job done, assigning companies to incidents across the city on a snowy and windy, hectic day.
