Dear NCCU Community,
As we resume normal operations after last weekend's winter storm, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many NCCU colleagues and external partners who helped ensure that our students and campus infrastructure were well cared for.
While each member of our community played their part in navigating the challenges this weekend, I would like to acknowledge several groups that played an outsized role.
-
Our residential students who remained on campus demonstrated excellent Eagle behavior.
-
NCCU Environmental Health and Safety; for coordinating our severe weather response team, keeping us updated with the latest developments and securing much needed resources within and outside the university.
-
NCCU Facilities Department; for preparing our physical infrastructure to withstand the extreme elements, securing backup options for life safety systems and getting the campus ready for the return to normal operations.
-
NCCU Residence Life; for coordinating activities with our residential students who remained on campus during the storm.
-
NCCU Student Engagement and Leadership Team; for staging the on-campus designated shelter.
-
NCCU Hospitality; for ensuring ongoing meal service during the weekend.
-
NCCU Information Technology Services; for keeping our remote learning and internet infrastructure running smoothly.
-
NCCU Office of e-Learning and all faculty members for the smooth transition to remote learning.
-
NCCU Police Department for their work in securing the campus and managing access to our physical infrastructure.
A very special thank you to our neighbors and ongoing partners, the emergency management professionals with the City of Durham and the State of North Carolina.
Once more, thank you to every member of our NCCU community for working together during this challenging winter event.
In Truth & Service
Dr. Karrie G. Dixon
