New Castle County eclipses in +$4M GovDeals sales milestone

New Castle County, Delaware has produced over $4 million in sales revenue through surplus property auctions held on GovDeals, the leading online marketplace for government agencies, educational institutions, and related agencies to sell surplus assets.

"Our partnership through GovDeals has allowed us to liquidate our surplus government property to continue to support government services and continue to be the best stewards of our County taxpayers resources," said County Executive Matt Meyer.

Since partnering with GovDeals in 2012, New Castle County has not only surpassed the $4 million sales milestone, but in the past three years has shown exceptional growth with just over $1 million in sales. The largest deal completed was for a vacuum truck (2014 Frieghtliner 1145D Vac-Combo Set) from New Castle County Public Works, which sold for $69,777.

FY2022 sales = $451,178

FY2023 sales = $189,983

FY2024 sales = $397,413

The figures above represent sales mostly of vehicular assets and equipment. Sales completed with GovDeals fund the department's General Fund, unless it is a police seized vehicle, in which case funds the police officer's pension fund. For each sale, GovDeals charges a 1.5% fee, with the rest of the sale being profit for New Castle County.
