On Friday, October 4, at 6:19 p.m., the Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to 3220 12th Ave. N. for a report of a shed fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 12-foot-by-12-foot garden shed on fire and the fire had extended to a nearby mobile home. One crew quickly extinguished the fire while another crew immediately searched the mobile home to ensure no one was inside. The home was determined to be unoccupied and abandoned.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire. The shed was a total loss. The fire also caused slight damage to the exterior of the mobile home and burned the side of a large tree. A cost estimate of the damage is not yet available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Fargo Fire Department responded with four fire engines, a truck company and one command vehicle. Fire crews were assisted on scene by The Fargo Police Department.

October is Fire Prevention Month, and the Fargo Fire Department is reminding residents to test their smoke alarms and make sure all smoke alarms are in working order.
