City Projects
Avenue 5E, 32nd Street to 30th Place
Starting July 6, crews will begin water line repair work on Avenue 5E between 32nd Street and 30th Place. Avenue 5E will be closed in the area during the work. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
32nd Street, Catalina Drive to Arizona Avenue
Beginning June 29 crews working with the City will perform sewer manhole rehabilitation on 32nd Street between Catalina Drive and Arizona Avenue. Work will require a right-lane closure. Drivers are advised to keep left, follow all traffic control signs and drive with caution through the work zone. Work is expected to be completed early July.
Avenue C, 20thStreet to 24th Street
Beginning June 15, an ADOT contractor will install ADA ramps and a HAWK pedestrian beacon on Avenue C and the Central Drain Pathway. Sidewalks on the north and south sides of the Central Drain will be closed during the project. Intermittent partial lane closures will take place on Avenue C between 20th Street and 24th Street. Motorists are encouraged to follow all traffic control signs and drive safely through the work zone. Work is expected to be completed in August.
Mesquite Avenue, Catalina Drive to Arizona Avenue
Beginning May 11, Mesquite Avenue will be closed for waterline and pavement replacement between Catalina Drive and Arizona Avenue. Work will also require closures on Catalina Drive, Coronado Avenue, Palmaire Avenue, Del Mar Avenue, and 30th Street, along with partial closures on Arizona Avenue. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs in the area.

Colorado Street to West Main Canal, Avenue B to 20th Avenue.
Other utility projects and encroachment permits
I-8 Exit 7/SR 195 (Araby Road) interchange (ADOT)
Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will conduct asphalt pavement surface treatments at the Interstate 8 Exit 7/SR 195 (Araby Road) interchange from 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 20. Work will require full closures of the eastbound and westbound I-8 on- and off-ramps at Exit 7, as well as the northbound and southbound Araby Road roundabouts at the interchange.
Drivers should expect heavy delays, allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs. Drivers may use Avenue 8E or Avenue 8½E at Exit 9 to access I-8. Businesses west of Araby Road may be accessed from Avenue 3E using Gila Ridge Road. Drivers trying to reach businesses east of Araby Road should call ahead to confirm access.
West Main Canal Bike Path, Avenue A to Magnolia Avenue (Yuma County Water Users Association)
Starting July 7, Yuma County Water Users Association will begin construction work along the West Main Canal at Avenue A. During the project, the West Main Canal Bike Path will be closed from Avenue A to Magnolia Avenue, and detours will be in place. Path users are advised to use caution and follow posted detour signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by December.
Avenue C, 37th Avenue to 33rd Drive (DPE Construction)
Starting July 6, crews with CPE Construction will install a raised traffic island on Avenue C near 37th Avenue. Work will require closures of the inside westbound and eastbound lanes on Avenue C between 37th Avenue and 33rd Drive. Work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
8th Avenue, 24th Street to 25th Street (Private Contractor)
Starting June 22, crews will widen the outside southbound lane on 8th Avenue between 24th Street and 25th Street. Work will require closure of the outside southbound lane during construction. Work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
28th Street, Avenue 4E to Shari Avenue (DPE Construction)
Crews will complete street improvements on 28th Street between Avenue 4E and Shari Avenue, including sewer and water line work, new concrete, asphalt, and striping. Work will require closure of 28th Street in this area. Work is expected to be completed by late July.
20th Avenue, 8th Street to 6th Place (Southwest Gas Corp.)
Beginning April 14, crews with Southwest Gas Corp. will complete gas line replacement work on 20th Avenue between 8th Street and 6th Place. Work will require a road closure on 20th Avenue in that area, as well as closures on 7th Street at 19th Avenue and 21st Avenue. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by late July.
Routine Maintenance, Tree Trimming, and Survey Work (APS)
APS crews will be conducting routine maintenance, tree trimming, and survey work throughout the year in various locations within the City. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas and follow all posted traffic control.
Fiber optic installations (Allo)
Communications line installations are taking place in areas designated for utility easements in numerous and various locations within the City limits and surrounding vicinity. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas.
