UAA upsets No. 6 Denver

Denver - Dimitry Kebreau scored his first goal of the season at 3:55 of overtime to lift UAA to a 4-3 upset win at No. 6 Denver Friday.

The win was the first for UAA over a ranked opponent since it defeated No. 9 Providence 4-0 on Jan. 20, 2024.

Denver got on the board first after Kieran Cebrian scored off a shot in the slot at 9:25 of the first period.

The Seawolves capitalized on a five-minute major penalty thanks to a goal by Aiden Westin at 16:52 of the first period. Westin scored on the doorstep for the power-play tally with assists to Ryan Johnson and Dimitry Kebreau. UAA finished 1-for-6 on the powerplay and held DU scoreless on all five of their opportunities.

DU took a 2-1 lead after Rieger Lopez scored on a penalty shot at 12:10 of the second period. The penalty shot was the first scored on Alaska Anchorage since Wisconsin's Kyle Kukkonen scored off one on Nov. 29, 2024.

Joey Potter tied the game at 2-2 just three minutes later with a long shot from the blue line with Ryan Johnson collecting his second assist of the night.

Potter gave the Seawolves their first lead of the game when he scored his second goal of the game this time on the doorstep at 7:05 of the third period.

The Pioneers threw everything at the Seawolves, including an extra attacker, over the final minutes of the third period. James Reeder scored off the rebound for Denver with 80 seconds remaining to force overtime.

Kebreau scored the game-winner with a low shot in the 3-on-3 extra period. Conor Cole notched the lone assist on the game-winning goal.

Tyler Krivtsov made a career-high 46 saves in his second career win for the Seawolves.

Denver finished with a 49-20 lead in shots.

UAA will look for the series sweep against Denver Saturday.
