The College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) has introduced an undergraduate ambassador program with 14 inaugural students.
The group of students represent majors from all three undergraduate departments - curriculum and instruction, health and kinesiology and nutrition, hospitality and human services.
"I decided to become a COEHD Ambassador because I wanted to find a way to give back to the college I love as well as share that love with other students," Mackenzie Howell, a junior interdisciplinary studies major, said. "I am truly thankful to the COEHD and all the opportunities it has given me, the people it has allowed me to meet, and the way it has prepared me to be a great teacher."
The ambassador program creates an opportunity to showcase COEHD from the student perspective. Ambassadors will assist with major events like welcoming students at New Student Orientation and connecting with prospective students at Cardinal View.
The group will serve as representatives at in-house events, during the academic year, to encourage and promote participation throughout the academic college.
"I decided to become a student ambassador for the COEHD because I love being able to give back to my community and others in any way that I can," sophomore sports and recreational management major, Jada Manigo Robinson said. "As I transitioned into my sophomore year, I thought that I'd take it to the next level by being a student advocate for Cardinals on campus. I'm looking forward to growing as a leader through service and community."
Interested students are required to submit an application and go through an interview process.
To serve as a COEHD Ambassador, an applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a major within the academic college, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and have completed at least two semesters at Lamar University.
