Derek Brown is a beverage expert, award-winning author, wellness coach, and mindful drinking advocate dubbed an "alcohol-free mixology wizard" by Bon Appétit and hailed as "the face of mindful drinking in America" by The Business of Drinks podcast. He co-founded the Mindful Drinking Fest and Drink Company with his wife and partner, Maria Bastasch. A former bartender known for his work at Columbia Room-named Best American Cocktail Bar in 2017-he authored Spirits, Sugar, Water, Bitters: How the Cocktail Conquered the World (2019) and Mindful Mixology: A Comprehensive Guide to No- and Low-Alcohol Cocktails (2022), both recognized for their influence on cocktail and non-alcoholic culture.
