Description:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using HAIYEATBNB HAIYE03 Electric Immersion Water Heaters because they pose a risk of serious injury and death due to fire and burn hazards. The product is intended to be immersed in water for the purpose of heating the water.

Ningbo Ocean International Trading Co. Ltd, of China, manufactures this product and has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for information about this product or to conduct a recall.

CPSC is aware of 29 reports of the defective electric immersion water heaters igniting, melting, smoking or overheating, including at least 11 reports of fires. The defective electric immersion water heaters will catch fire if the unit is not completely submerged in water.

The defective electric immersion water heaters are metal tubes with several heart-shaped holes stamped into the metal and an attached yellow plastic power cord. The words "IMMERSION HEATER" and "AUTOMATIC POWER-OFF" are printed on the packaging in green. The defective electric immersion water heaters were sold on Amazon.com from June 2023 through November 2024 for about $20.

CPSC urges consumers to immediately dispose of the electric immersion water heaters. There is no remedy for consumers because the manufacturer is refusing to cooperate with CPSC.

The power cord can partially detach from the heater enclosure which can lead to cord damage over time, posing electric shock and fire hazards.

The smoke alarms can malfunction and fail to alert consumers of a fire, posing a risk of smoke inhalation or death. Smoke sensitivity tests performed on the alarms by CPSC found that one of the detectors that was tested failed to alert when exposed to pre-determined concentrations of smoke.

The mechanical internal locking plates can fail to align and allow unauthorized users to open the gun safes, posing a serious injury hazard and risk of death.

After alerting consumers to the presence of natural gas or carbon monoxide, the recalled alarm can go into sleep mode when the alert lasts less than four minutes. During this time, the alarms can fail to detect and alert consumers to a new incidence of natural gas or carbon monoxide, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The smart electric space heaters can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. Testing determined the smart electric space heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard, UL 1278, posing an overheating and fire risk from wireless control features.

The crimp holding a wire in place in the cabinet heater is not properly finished and can result in the wire detaching, posing an electrocution hazard.
