The Third APEC Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) for 2026 was held in Dalian, Liaoning Province from August 27 to 28, 2026. Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu attended and addressed the meeting.
Ma Zhaoxu noted that since the launch of the APEC "China Year", in-depth discussions among all parties have further consolidated consensus on building an Asia-Pacific community, with main pillars for building an Asia-Pacific community having taken initial shape, injecting fresh impetus into regional economic integration. As the host, China will work together with all APEC member economies to focus on pragmatic cooperation and inclusive development, deliver outcomes for the Leaders' Meeting, and promote more in-depth and solid progress in the building of an Asia-Pacific community.
Participating parties spoke highly of cooperation progress across various areas under the APEC "China Year", commended China for its efforts to advance the building of an Asia-Pacific community. They look forward to fruitful outcomes at the APEC Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen, which will contribute more to development in the Asia-Pacific and the wider world.
This SOM is the largest-scale and most activity-rich one during the APEC "China Year". During the meeting, APEC committees and working groups convened nearly 130 meetings and events covering trade, transportation, food, customs, science and technology, energy, health, disaster reduction, anti-corruption and other fields. More than 3,000 representatives from member economies of APEC, the APEC Secretariat and APEC observers attended the meeting.
