Earth Month

Since 1970, Earth Day and Month has served as a time to celebrate our planet, advocate for its protection, and raise awareness. This global event encourages people to organize annually and has led to some of the most formative environmental regulations in U.S. history, such as the Clean Air Act.

The City of Riverside has proven its commitment to environmental stewardship through the years. These efforts have been recognized, and the City has received awards for its green fleet, local food system program, waste-to-energy co-digestion, complete streets, community engagement, and Climate Action Plan. To take efforts a step further, the City developed its first Office of Sustainability in June 2024.

This year, the Office of Sustainability is working to highlight the incredible work being led by the City and our community partners. Our goal is to showcase Riverside's leadership in sustainability while inviting the public to participate in activities of all sizes - big or small.
