Rep. Viola Davis to Recognize Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Day at State Capitol

ATLANTA - State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), along with other members of the Georgia General Assembly, will recognize Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Day at the Capitol on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in room 230 of the State Capitol.

"Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority has played an extraordinary role in strengthening communities through education, service and leadership," said Rep. Davis. "It is fitting that we recognize the contributions of these dedicated women who continue to make a lasting difference across Georgia and beyond."

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was founded on November 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, by seven educators committed to uplifting communities through education, public service and leadership development. Since its founding, the sorority has grown to include more than 100,000 members across over 500 chapters worldwide.

The event will allow members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority from across Georgia to gather at the Capitol to engage with lawmakers, celebrate their legacy of service and highlight the organization's continued commitment to advancing opportunities for communities throughout the state.

Legislators will also celebrate this event with Senate Resolution 945, which seeks to recognize March 16, 2026, as Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Day at the Capitol
