Grant award announcement: Office of Worker Protections’ Community Outreach and Education Fund

Philadelphia's Office of Worker Protections (OWP) is proud to announce that four community organizations will be awarded a total of $80,000 in funding as part of its ongoing Community Outreach and Education Fund (COEF). Each group will receive $20,000 in grant funding to work together with the Office of Worker Protections to create programming aimed at promoting awareness of Philadelphia's worker protection ordinances. The Philadelphia City Fund serves as the fiscal sponsor for COEF and manages the charitable funding committed in support of this project.

This year's Community Outreach and Education Fund partners are the Philly Black Workers Project, the National Domestic Workers Alliance - PA Chapter, the Restaurant Workers Coalition, and VietLead.

"We're excited to work together with these trusted community partners to help amplify the work of the Office of Worker Protections and reach our City's most impacted communities," said OWP Director Alison Stohr.

"In this political environment, it is important for workers to know their rights, especially Black workers who are seeing the reversal of so many discrimination protections and programs," said Philly Black Workers Project Executive Director, Brittany Alston. "We are excited to use the COEF grant to have meaningful conversations and distribute materials in the many languages our communities speak!"

"Support from the Office of Worker Protections Community Outreach and Education Fund is vital for supporting our weekly outreach to multilingual, multiracial domestic workers in Philadelphia," said National Domestic Workers' Alliance Pennsylvania Director, Nicole Kligerman. "Street outreach in parks, libraries, health centers, and more is critical to providing labor rights education to nannies, house cleaners and caregivers, who are some of the most exploited workers in Philadelphia. We fought for and won the Philadelphia Domestic Workers

Bill of Rights and the POWER Act, and we're excited to ensure that all Philadelphia workers know their rights with support from the COEF."
