The City of Sun Prairie has identified a need for additional funding to maintain services in the community and address staffing challenges. To address this need, the Sun Prairie City Council voted to place a referendum question on the April 7, 2026, ballot.
Voters will be asked to decide whether they support a $3.95 million increase in the City's annual property tax levy to improve public safety services while maintaining the high-quality existing services and programs the community enjoys. If approved, additional funding would allow the City to hire three additional public safety personnel, including two firefighters and one patrol officer, as well as provide wages for part-time volunteer firefighters.
