Routt County - The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a 14-mile resurfacing project on Monday, April 6, along US Highway 40 through Milner. Paving work will take place from the Xcel Energy Hayden station, Mile Point 112, to about five miles west of Steamboat Springs, MP 126.
Additional work includes guardrail replacement, minor improvements and safety enhancements on three bridges and slope stabilization. The project is expected to be completed by the middle of November.
Nightwork for paving operations is anticipated to begin mid May. This highly traveled commuter corridor between Craig and Steamboat Springs will see benefits including improved driving surfaces and slope stabilization in the notoriously challenging rockfall location of Mt. Harris Canyon.
United Companies, of Grand Junction, is the contractor for this $12 million project.
