Save the Date: Veterans Expo November 10 & 11

League City is proud to host "Veterans Experiences and Expressions: A tribute to those who have served our country." The expo will take place on November 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and November 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center. The expo will feature an artifact and art exhibit featuring items from WWII to the present, non-profit groups that serve veterans and their families, panel discussions and speakers, ceremony and BBQ lunch (November 11 only), and showing of the "Hell or High Seas" documentary. The artifact and art exhibit will remain on display at the Civic Center from November 12-15 during working hours.

Field Trip Opportunities
League City is inviting CCISD teachers and homeschool groups to bring their students on a field trip to the Civic Center to not only experience the exhibit but hear firsthand from veterans who served during the Vietnam War. They include John McCarty-who wrote the book A Marine in Vietnam-and Jerry Clark, the founder of Transition Plus-a support group for local veterans. Dr. Tina Farrell, the author of the book 868: The Sharecroppers Son, will also be available to speak to students. Her book chronicles the life of her father, including his time as a POW during WWII.
