Loudoun Clerk of Circuit Court Launches New Remote Access Service

Loudoun Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens is pleased to announce a new remote access service that allows occasional users to access deed information and deed records remotely. Since 2003, the Clerk has offered a subscription-based remote access service to clients who regularly conduct research of deeds and land records in the Clerk's Office.

"This service has efficiently and effectively served our regular clients, such as attorneys, title companies, real estate agents, surveyors and other professionals who constantly conduct land records research," stated Clemens. The annual subscription service offers access to public information to subscribers without requiring clients to travel to the physical courthouse building. Clemens adds, "We are doing our part to reduce traffic congestion because we have more than 1,000 clients conducting research of deeds and land records daily from their desktops."

Some occasional clients who do not need an annual subscription nor desire to pay the annual subscription fee, have been accessing information and copies of these public records by visiting the Clerk's Office or requesting copies by mail or email. Clemens decided to expand the remote service offerings to these clients with a new service for this group of customers. The new remote access service allows a customer to search the deed and land records indices at no cost. After finding an index entry for a specific deed or land record of interest, the customer can pay online to gain access to the specific record. To use this new service, users must create an account that will allow them to save their search history and track previous purchases of copies of deeds and land records. Users only pay when they choose to view or download document images. Searches can be conducted by name, document type, date range and other available criteria.

"While we are pleased to reduce visits to the courthouse to conduct deed and land records research for our frequent customers, we are very excited to expand remote access services to our infrequent and occasional customers," stated Clemens. "Providing fingertip access to public deed and land records information and records has always been our goal and we will continue to seek opportunities to provide more tech solutions to enhance access to public information."

After a few weeks of internal testing, the Clerk's Office is launching this new service but asks occasional users for patience as the new system becomes available for public use and access.
