Law Enforcement Searching For Youth Who Left Dermott Juvenile Treatment Center

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) - A teen in the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Youth Services (DYS) custody left a juvenile treatment facility in Dermott without authorization Thursday evening. Local law enforcement have been notified and are looking for the youth.

Arkansas Code Annotated 9-28-215 requires DYS to provide the public identifying information about youth who leave DYS custody without authorization if the youth "is committed to the Division of Youth Services for an offense that would be a felony if the offense were committed by an adult."

Jaylin Bennett, 17, is a black male with brown hair and brown eyes who stands 5 foot 9 inches and weighs about 170 pounds.

He has been in DYS custody since 2022 on charges including terroristic threatening and escape. A photo appears below.

Bennett left the Dermott Juvenile Treatment Center around 6:30 p.m.

Anyone with information on their location is asked to contact local authorities.
