Chinese Consul General in Erbil Liu Jun Visits the University of Sulaimani

On 13 January 2026, Consul General Mr. Liu Jun visited the University of Sulaimani, where he met with University President Dr. Kosar Mohammed Ali, attended the graduation ceremony of a short-term Chinese language program at the China Studies Center, and held discussions with the Center's Director and academic staff.

Consul General Liu noted that since its establishment more than two years ago, the China Studies Center has actively organized academic activities, developed sound cooperation with research institutions at home and abroad, and significantly enhanced its academic visibility and influence. He encouraged the Center to further leverage its strengths in China studies and Chinese language education, and to build itself into an academic platform supporting people-to-people exchanges.

Dr. Kosar stated that the establishment of the China Studies Center represents an important step in the University's international cooperation. He reaffirmed the University's continued support for the Center and its commitment to expanding cooperation with Chinese universities.

In November 2025, the Center jointly organized an online Chinese language course with Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, with around 70 students successfully completing the program. Consul General Liu presented certificates to the graduating students.
