Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW), Southeast Regional Office (SERO) has received an application for the following public easement:

APPLICANT: Haines Borough

PROJECT NAME: ADL 107621

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
Swanson Harbor, within Lynn Canal, approximately 26-miles southwest from Juneau, Alaska.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
C042S063E21, SE ¼ Section 21, Township 42 South, Range 63 East, Copper River Meridian
58.2133 N, 135.1102 W

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
The Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW) received an application for the renewal of a public easement in Swanson Harbor. The site contains a refuge float measuring approximately 10-feet by 150-feet with six standard 12-inch pilings to hold the float in place. The existing float was built in 1979 by the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). In 2011 a 10-year public easement was issued to the Haines Borough for continued use and maintenance of this float.
The current easement expired in 2021. DMLW received an application for renewal on April 29th, 2025.

REQUESTED TERM: 25 years

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: February 11th, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be emailed to the adjudicator below or received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at Southeast Regional Land Office, PO Box 111020, Juneau, Alaska 99811 on or before 5:00p.m. on the date noted above.
