New Bankruptcy Scam Targeting Debtors

Monday, March 2, 2026

There is a new scam targeting bankruptcy debtors. The scam involves a party calling a debtor using a spoofed number that appears to be from the bankruptcy court. The debtor is told they owe money to the court and can pay by Zelle.

All payment notices from this Court will be sent by official mail, either from the Bankruptcy Noticing Center or the Court directly. If you receive a phone call from the Bankruptcy Court regarding amounts due, it should always refer to a payment notice that was sent by official mail. Payments by Zelle are not allowed.

Please report any attempts to collect payment to the Clerk's Office at (214) 753-2000.
