Tusker Construction Group chooses Grove for significant crane fleet investment

  • Irish company has added multiple new Grove all-terrain cranes to capitalize on their operational and reliability benefits.
  • All the cranes are supplied and supported by Irlequip, the Grove dealer for Ireland.

Ireland's Tusker Group has a long history of using Grove mobile cranes in its rental fleet and to support its own construction projects. Historically, Tusker has purchased high-quality used cranes from multiple sources, including Irlequip, the local Grove dealer. However, in 2025, the company decided to change its strategy and invest in new cranes for its latest fleet additions.

After evaluating several options, Tusker selected Grove cranes to be supplied and serviced through Irlequip. The new cranes in the fleet are a Grove GMK6300L-1, two Grove GMK5120L, and two Grove GMK3060L-1 models. All are available for projects across Ireland and the UK.

"We've long enjoyed the performance and productivity of Grove cranes, but we saw an opportunity to achieve higher utilization, lower downtime, and reduced running costs by switching to new models. So we worked with the guys at Irlequip to get the right mix of machines and can already feel the benefits. With the GMK6300L-1, we've added a proven leader in its class; while the five-axle and three-axle models are perfect for our rental fleet and are continually busy," said John Lennon, managing director of the Tusker Group.

The GMK6300L-1 is an established best-seller: a six-axle, 300 t capacity crane with an 80 m main boom and up to 120 m of reach thanks to a 37 m jib and boom extension. The five-axle, 120 t GMK5120L has the on-board Crane Control System (CCS) plus MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning. Combined with its 66 m main boom and a 9.4/16 m bi-fold swingaway jib, the crane is a game-changer for rental fleets with best-in-class taxi capabilities thanks to its flexible counterweight options. The three-axle, 60 t GMK3060L-1 also features CCS and MAXbase™, along with a 48 m main boom and a 8.7/15 m bi-fold swingaway jib, offering versatility and compactness without compromising lifting performance.
