A&M Texarkana Celebrates Second Ever August Commencement Exercise

TEXARKANA, Texas - Texas A&M University Texarkana recently held its second ever August commencement ceremony on August 7, 2026, in the Lois & Cary Patterson Student Center on the A&M Texarkana campus. Dr. David Orr, City Manager of the City of Texarkana, Texas delivered the commencement address, in which he encouraged students to stand out by doing work that others don't want to do, saying yes to opportunities when they present themselves, and being intentional in everything they do.

As the University enrollment continues to rise, so too does the number of graduates each semester. In 2025, the University began hosting an August commencement ceremony to better serve the graduates and their families. The August graduates represented 27 different academic majors, with 65% earning a bachelor's degree, and 35% earning a master's degree. The graduates hailed from ten different states, as far away as Pennsylvania, California, Washington, and Utah.

"I would like to personally congratulate each member of the August 2026 graduating class," said A&M Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander. "Graduating from college is a significant achievement and milestone, and I know that the personalized education they received at A&M Texarkana will serve them well throughout their lives."
