Update on security developments in the region

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova informs that the MFA Crisis Cell is operating on a permanent basis and is monitoring security developments in the region, in coordination with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions.

Updated information for citizens:

State of Israel

According to information provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel, following checks carried out with the Israeli authorities, no casualties or injured persons have been recorded among citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

Citizens are advised to strictly follow the instructions of the local authorities and remain vigilant.

State of Qatar

In connection with the security incident of 28 February (missile and drone attacks on military targets, including Al-Udeid Air Base):

• Following checks carried out with the Qatari authorities, no casualties or injured persons have been recorded among citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

• Airspace remains closed.

Qatari authorities announced that the situation is under control and urged the population to stay at home and avoid non-essential travel.

United Arab Emirates

Following incidents reported on 1 March regarding drone attacks on Dubai Airport (DBX) and Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH), and checks carried out with the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates, no casualties or injured persons have been recorded among citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation and will communicate any additional measures, if needed.

Republic of Türkiye

According to information provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Türkiye:

• Egypt's airspace remains operational;

• A Turkish airline announced the suspension of flights to Lebanon and Jordan until 2 March;

• Citizens are advised to regularly check flight status before heading to the airport.

Republic of Azerbaijan

In the wake of recent events in Iran and contradictory information circulating in the public space:

• The security situation in the area is unstable and may change rapidly;

• Additional security measures and restrictions may be introduced;

• There is a risk of regional tensions and unpredictable developments.

The Azerbaijan-Iran land border remains closed for regular passenger traffic.
