Workshops will equip current, future supervisors with leadership skills

A new educational opportunity for supervisors and those hoping to become supervisors will equip them with skills they need to be more effective at leading others.

The Supervisory Skills Workshop Series is offered by faculty in a new center, the Center for Business and Talent Development, under the direction of the Kelce College of Business at Pittsburg State University.

Participants may participate in as many workshops as they wish. Each workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and each is $50 per person.

Participants can expect to be fully engaged in practical applications of the skills shared throughout these sessions, each taught by experts in the field with a proven track record for improving workplace performance:

Professor Judy Smetana holds a doctorate in human resources development with experience in leadership, organization development and change, evidence-based leadership coaching, and behavioral assessments for professionals.

Assistant Professor Krissy Lewis has more than 20 years of experience working with people and organizations across a range of industries, including interactive and practical workshops that use real-world scenarios.

Professor Mark Johnson, the director of the new center, is a nationally sought-after presenter and consultant with 40 years of experience in career and technical education and human resource development.
