City Hosts Youth Town Hall on June 24

The City of Greensboro's Community Safety Department (CSD) will hold a Youth Town Hall from 4-6 pm, Wednesday, June 24, in the Nussbaum Room of the Central Library, 219 N. Church St.

"This event provides a safe space for youth across Greensboro to speak about issues that are important to them and share ideas for positive change, particularly around safety and violence prevention," said Jeremiah Jett, the department's youth engagement director, who will facilitate the town hall. "It's also an opportunity for teens to have their voices heard by City leaders and community members."

This youth-led event will include:

  • Open discussions on issues impacting youth
  • Exchange of ideas and solutions for violence prevention
  • Engagement with City leaders and community members
  • Opportunities for youth to get involved and lead

The event is open to all Greensboro youth ages 14 to 22.

The CSD takes a holistic, collaborative approach to improving Greensboro's public safety through community-centered prevention initiatives, crisis intervention services to help de-escalate violence, and long-term, intensive case management for individuals whose issues-such as mental health, substance use, and homelessness-have put them in frequent contact with law enforcement.
