Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County hosts students for heart health education event

Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders in healthcare.

Hospital leadership hosted "Heart of Healthcare," an educational event for local high school students interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare industry. Students spoke with leaders across the hospital's various departments, toured various areas of the hospital and participated in interactive sessions designed to give them a hands-on look at how teams care for the community.

"Events like this are essential to developing the next generation of healthcare leaders here in Clay County," said Sadie Durham, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County. "By exposing students to real-world experiences early on, we can inspire them to pursue careers in healthcare and help ensure an inspired, knowledgeable workforce for the future. It also highlights the importance of heart health and the impact these roles have on treatment and prevention of health disorders and the vascular system".

A total of 44 students attended the event from Middleburg High School, Oakleaf High School, Clay High School, and Keystone Heights High School. This is the second year the hospital has hosted students for this event.
