UTEP OPENS NEW ADVANCED MANUFACTURING & AEROSPACE CENTER

January 28, 2026 - The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) has opened its state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center (AMAC). Housing 29 laboratories, the facility gives students hands-on experience in a rapidly evolving industry and provides faculty with the resources needed to pursue bold ideas.

Spaces inside the AMAC blend form and function. Haworth's ergonomic task seating paired with height-adjustable desks support focus work while thoughtfully designed lounge spaces encourage spontaneous interaction and collaboration.

A dramatic entrance space, Mission OPS, serves as a NASA-style control room where students can monitor launches and conduct research. Moon habitation, robotics and exotic-material 3D printing are just a few of the types of technology being advanced at this cutting-edge facility.

As the national leader in aerospace and advanced manufacturing, UTEP developed AMAC to support continued growth of the College of Engineering. Previously spread across and off campus, the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation and the Aerospace Center are now co-located in a single facility, strengthening collaboration and efficiency. The 92,000-square-foot building accommodates more than 250 students and staff.
