Fort Morgan Electric Rates Still Among Best in State
A recently released survey of utilities across the state shows that the City of Fort Morgan continues to be among those with the very lowest electric rates in Colorado.
The annual survey by the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities ranks Fort Morgan's electric rates as the second-lowest in three of the four survey categories.
Fort Morgan is listed second in the Residential, Large Commercial and Industrial categories, out of nearly 60 utilities ranked in the survey. Fort Morgan was 8th in the Small Commercial rankings.
For residential electric customers, Fort Morgan's average monthly electric bill is $61.47, according to the survey. That is more than $25 per month less than the next utility on the residential list, third-ranked Longmont.
These statistics are due in large part to the city owning and operating its own utilities. Fort Morgan's electric rates have consistently been either the lowest or very close to the lowest in Colorado for at least the past decade.
The CAMU survey includes rates from municipal utilities, co-ops and investor-owned electric companies. The survey covered utilities across Colorado, including many from Northeast Colorado.
