On 30 April 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, met with Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, Executive Director of the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ).
Both sides discussed cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TIJ in advancing the implementation of the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders (Bangkok Rules) in various countries through the Bangkok Rules Accelerator programme proposal, in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Permanent Secretary proposed for the TIJ to explore the possibility of organizing Bangkok Rules training for countries in the African region under the Thailand - Africa Initiative (TAI).
Both sides also exchanged views on TIJ's role in supporting Thailand's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), particularly in the promotion of the rule of law.
