Minister Lamola to co-chair the Eighth Session of the South Africa-Brazil Joint Commission with his Brazilian counterpart

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ronald Lamola, will co-chair the Eighth Session of the South Africa-Brazil Joint Commission (JC) with Brazil's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Mauro Vieira, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 in Pretoria.

The Joint Commission will provide an important platform to review bilateral relations, assess progress in existing areas of cooperation and identify new opportunities to advance the South Africa-Brazil Strategic Partnership.

The Joint Commission will review the implementation of existing bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding. Discussions are expected to consider new arrangements in areas such as aggrotech, aerospace and defence industries, biopharmaceuticals, creative industries, critical minerals beneficiation, energy, science and innovation, youth and women's empowerment, transport and health.

Brazil is South Africa's major trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean and there are significant and growing investments of South African companies in Brazil.
