Albares takes part in Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine meeting

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, took part via videoconference on Monday in the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, held to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the country's independence.

Spain is firmly committed to Ukraine, to a just and lasting peace, and to a sovereign and independent Ukraine, with full respect for its internationally recognised borders. Our country continues to condemn in the strongest possible terms the ongoing Russian attacks against the country, particularly those targeting the civilian population and critical infrastructure. Furthermore, Spain will continue to support Ukraine in the diplomatic, military, financial and humanitarian spheres, in coordination with its European partners and allies.

Spain remains in solidarity with the Ukrainian people a​nd continues to tailor its assistance to the country's most urgent needs, particularly in the face of attacks on the civilian population and critical infrastructure.

Furthermore, our country is a founding member of the new Ballistic Missile Defence Coalition, which aims to strengthen Ukraine's protection against threats to European security. Similarly, Spain supports Ukraine's accession process to the European Union and the reforms that the Ukrainian authorities continue to drive forward despite the difficulties arising from the war.

Spain will continue to work actively within the Coalition of the Willing to agree on the best security guarantees for Ukraine once a ceasefire has been reached.
