Boeing unveils a new training campus in Shanghai

Boeing opened a new training campus in Shanghai on July 17, marking a significant investment by the US aircraft manufacturer in aviation training to meet growing demand for skilled aviation personnel across the Asia-Pacific region.

Located in the Yangshan Free Trade Zone, the new campus replaces Boeing's original Shanghai training facility and will provide training for pilots, maintenance technicians, and cabin crew across the region.

The campus features full-flight simulators for the 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner, flight training devices for both aircraft types, classrooms for maintenance and cabin training, a computer-based training room, and briefing rooms.

"This campus reflects Boeing's long-term commitment to aviation safety and workforce development in the Asia-Pacific region," Chris Broom, vice-president of Boeing Commercial Training Solutions, said in a statement.

Boeing said the campus will provide localized courseware, blended and virtual learning options, and instructor development programs focused on decision-making and competency-based training and assessment.

The campus will also host Boeing's global educational outreach program, welcoming student visits and partnering with local schools and universities to help cultivate the next generation of commercial aviation professionals.
