LG&E and KU again named a ‘Top Utility’ in economic development

Company recognized among elite group of utilities

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - International economic development publication Site Selection has once again named LG&E and KU a "Top Utility" for economic development activities in 2025. This marks the company's 13th recognition since 2012.

Site Selection evaluates utilities based on the investment and jobs generated by projects in their service territories during the previous year. Results are measured using both total and per-capita figures.

"Our investments in generation and transmission, combined with a strong focus on customer service, position LG&E and KU as a trusted energy partner for new and expanding businesses throughout our service territories," said LG&E and KU President John Crockett. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our employees, whose dedication helps drive economic growth and opportunity across the state. We are honored to be recognized again and proud to support the success of the communities we serve."

LG&E and KU played a significant role in Kentucky's economic success. In 2025, the utilities supported 92 economic development projects, helping companies announce nearly $5.7 billion in capital investment and 4,574 new jobs at those facilities. Projects within LG&E and KU service territories accounted for:

• 46% of statewide investment announcements
• 52% of announced investment dollars
• 43% of the jobs created statewide

Several high profile projects were announced in LG&E and KU service territories last year, including:

• Ford Motor Company, which is investing nearly $2 billion to produce midsize electric pickup trucks at Louisville Assembly Plant
• Apple, which, through a $2.5 billion partnership with Corning, is dedicating Corning's Harrodsburg facility exclusively to Apple production, supplying cover glass for the iPhone and Apple Watch and expanding the facility's workforce by 50%
• GE Appliances, which is investing $490 million at its global headquarters and largest manufacturing site in Louisville to create its most advanced plant for producing clothes washers
