Parking Meter Fees Will Change to $2 per Hour in Harvard Square

The City of Cambridge is increasing meter rates for on-street parking meters in Harvard Square. New meter rates will go into effect on a rolling basis throughout the area between February 3 and February 14, 2025 .

New rates will be $2 per hour throughout Harvard Square. If you pay in quarters, the first quarter will pay for eight minutes of parking and the second will pay for seven minutes. Previous rates ranged from $1 per hour to $1.50 per hour. This work will also involve upgrading some meter equipment.

During this perio d, y our parking payment options will not change . Please follow directions on the meter if paying with coins or instructions on the Passport Parking app/website if paying with a mobile device. Check the white and green signs near your parking space to understand when payment is required .

These changes will impact meters on:

  • Elliot Street

  • Everett Street

  • Mass Avenue (Cambridge Common; Waterhouse St to Everett St)

  • Mount Auburn (East of DeWolf Street)
