On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct responded to reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of Northwest 6th Avenue. When they arrived, officers found bystanders tending to a 23-year-old woman who had been stabbed. Officers provided additional medical care until the woman was transported to a hospital where she is expected to survive. In addition, officers located the adult female suspect who had been detained by security guards.
The suspect is identified as 36-year-old Achillia A. Palmer. She was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) and lodged on the following charges: Attempted Murder, Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and warrants.
Detectives assigned to PPB's Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and determined the victim and suspect are not known to each other, and this was an unprovoked attack.
"Unprovoked attacks like this one are uncommon in our community," Chief Bob Day said. "I am relieved that this victim is expected to recover, and I am grateful for the quick actions of community members who assisted the victim. I also want to commend our officers and detectives for their swift response to a complex incident."
Anyone with information about this case, who has not talked with police, is asked to submit a tip. The case number is 26-179773.
