An updated Self-Identification (Self-ID) Questionnaire was released on February 19, 2026, and is now available through the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) Applications Portal (TAP) (accessible only on the National Defence network).

If you have not yet completed your Self-ID, please ensure you do so in both HRMS (accessible only on the National Defence network) and TAP. If you have previously completed it in HRMS, you must now also complete it in TAP.

While only Section A (which asks whether you want to self-identify) is mandatory, all employees are encouraged to self-identify to help ensure we have reliable and complete data on the composition of the public service to inform decisions, programs and initiatives across the public service.

  • It's easy: if you select "yes" to self-identifying, you will be asked a short series of questions about different aspects of your identity (Sections B and C). These questions are voluntary and should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
  • It's confidential: Managers, supervisors and colleagues will not be able to access your self-ID information. Only a limited number of authorized personnel responsible for managing, analyzing and reporting self-ID data will have access for data collection and reporting purposes.
  • It gives you control of your self-ID: you don't have to redo the Self-ID Questionnaire if you change jobs, and you can update it anytime.
  • It ensures your identity counts in your organization's picture of their workforce and helps identify and address barriers to employment, as well as support diversity, inclusion and belonging initiatives in the workplace.

Make sure you are represented by taking a few moments to self-identify. By doing so, you are helping to improve self-ID data and helping to create a public service that is truly representative.

More information about the Self-ID Questionnaire is available in this article, on our webpage at Self-identification and the Self-ID GCxchange page (accessible only on the National Defence network).

Additional information for CCG employees will be shared directly.
