The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) has released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps for Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) that include Los Angeles County. This is CalFire's first update to the LRA maps since 2009.
These maps identify areas as moderate, high and very high fire hazard zones based on factors such as vegetation, slope, fire weather conditions and wind, which are major contributors to wildfire spread.
In accordance with state law, local agencies, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department and City of Diamond Bar, must adopt CalFire's updated zones by June 2025.
Diamond Bar residents are encouraged to learn more and stay information, and review and comment on the proposed LRA FHSZ maps:
