American Jewish Committee (AJC), the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, and the Conseil Représentatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF), the organization representing Europe's largest Jewish community, today announced the signing of a new partnership agreement, formalized in Paris on the occasion of the CRIF's 40th annual Dinner, to deepen transatlantic coordination in combating antisemitism and defending democratic values.
The agreement, which is AJC's 42nd such partnership with Jewish communities around the world, marks a new chapter in a decades-long relationship rooted in shared values, close collaboration, and a proven record of impactful, joint work. AJC's on-the-ground efforts in France date back to 1947, when the organization helped reconstruct remaining Jewish communities in Europe. In 2004, AJC re-established its office in Paris, which, in 2015, also became the headquarters of AJC Europe.
"AJC and CRIF are focused on shaping a future in which Jews are safe and thriving," said AJC CEO Ted Deutch. "By formalizing our collaboration, we are strengthening our ability to act together to confront antisemitism and defend democratic values at a moment when Jewish communities are under threat."
"AJC and CRIF have built a strong foundation of trust, shared leadership, and concrete achievements", said CRIF President Yonathan Arfi. "This agreement reflects the reality of a relationship that has existed and thrived for many years."
The AJC-CRIF partnership has already delivered meaningful results and will continue to do so, particularly through AJC Paris and AJC's William Petschek Global Jewish Communities Department. In June 2025, AJC Paris and CRIF jointly convened On the Frontlines: French-American Forum on Antisemitism, a landmark conference focused on youth engagement, education, and transatlantic cooperation.
The forum underscored that the challenges facing Jewish communities are global in nature and require a global response. As a direct outcome, AJC announced the nomination of Pace University President Marvin Krislov as a Fulbright Specialist, hosted by AJC Paris, to lead a major joint U.S.-France initiative to identify, test, and help institutionalize policies that reduce antisemitism and strengthen democratic resilience for the next generation.
