Uptown Marion will come alive with Halloween fun on Saturday, October 25, as two free community events fill the district with costumes, creativity and seasonal spirit. Families are invited to enjoy a full day of festivities beginning with the Marion Monster Mash in City Square Park and continuing throughout the district with the Uptown Marion Spooktacular.
The day kicks off with the Marion Monster Mash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Central Plaza at City Square Park. This family-friendly celebration is packed with fall fun and Halloween excitement for little ghouls and goblins. Activities include trunk-or-treating, crafts, yard games, spooky story time, face painting, temporary tattoos and a costume parade through the plaza at 1 p.m. The event is made possible by Farmers State Bank (FSB), Uptown Marion, the City of Marion, KidStrong Cedar Rapids and East Post Pumpkins. Costumes are encouraged, though attendees are reminded to keep them family-friendly.
Festivities continue all day with the Uptown Marion Spooktacular, happening during regular restaurant hours that brings a touch of Halloween magic to favorite Uptown destinations including Goldfinch Tap + Eatery, Frydae, Uptown Snug, BarTini's, The Eat Shop and the Hip-Stir. Guests can enjoy special spooky menus with haunted stories written by Linn-Mar Venture Academics Creative Writing students. Presented by Linn-Mar Venture Academics Creative Writing Students and Uptown Marion, the Spooktacular offers a frightfully fun way to experience the district and support local businesses throughout the day.
Both events celebrate the creativity and community spirit that make Uptown Marion a special place to gather, shop, and visit. For event details and updates, visit uptownmarion.com or follow Uptown Marion - A Main Street Iowa District on social media.
