Love Your Block Program to hold celebration, Oct. 4

(COLUMBIA, MO)- The Love Your Block Program will hold an event from 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 to celebrate the program's accomplishments for the year. The community is invited to attend. The event will be held at the City-owned green space on Sexton Road, just west of Garth Avenue.

The event will include food, information tables and guest speakers. Participating organizations include the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Conservation Corps and the City of Columbia.

Columbia is one of 16 cities in the current cohort of the Love Your Program program, funded by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. This year, Love Your Block funded 11 mini-grants for resident-led projects focused in central Columbia. A second round of mini-grants will be offered for neighborhood projects in 2026.

This event coincides with the fourth annual Good Neighbor Week, organized by the University of Missouri Extension. Good Neighbor Week, held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, encourages residents to establish connections with their neighbors.

The City of Columbia Housing & Neighborhood Services Department is managing the Love Your Block program locally. To learn more about the event or the program, visit CoMo.gov/volunteer or email [email protected].
