The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is closely following the case of the American journalist kidnapped in Iraq

From the outset, the Ministry has been monitoring with the utmost attention the situation of Ms Shelly Kittleson, who was kidnapped in Iraq. Ms Kittleson also collaborates with several Italian media outlets. Minister Antonio Tajani has instructed the Italian Foreign Ministry, in coordination with the Italian Embassy in Baghdad, to remain fully engaged on the case and to assess all elements that may contribute to securing her release. The Italian Ambassador to Baghdad is in contact with the Iraqi authorities, while the Spokesperson's Office is liaising with a newspaper with which the journalist collaborates.
