The MobiSpaces project funded by Horizon Europe, delivers an end-to-end mobility-aware and mobility optimised data governance platform with key differentiating factors. Specifically, it aims to extract actionable insights from ubiquitous mobile sensor data and IoT devices in a decentralised way.

MobiSpaces published a whitepaper in February 2025, which serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding the potential impacts of the project. It outlines the critical challenges facing sustainable mobility in Europe, highlights the innovative approaches of MobiSpaces, and provides an impact roadmap.

The European Commission's Innovation Radar 2024 highlighted significant advancements within project MobiSpaces Five key innovations from the project have been recognised for their potential impact on existing markets:

  1. Federated learning: Enhancing vessel route forecasting and anomaly detection
  2. MobiBench: A collection of mobility processing methods for benchmarking existing software implementations and hardware capabilities
  3. Smart resource allocator for optimising AI workflow deployment across clusters
  4. Trajectory algorithm: An open-source library for mobility data management
  5. TrajParquet: A columnar file format for efficient storage and querying of large trajectory dataset

MobiSpaces has 5 use cases to demonstrate the impact of the project platform in real-life scenarios:

  1. iRoute
  2. SmartSense
  3. MarineTrafficTracker
  4. VesselEdge
  5. CrowdSeaMapping
