Temporary Traffic Closures Scheduled on MLK Boulevard July 16-17, 2026
The Tennessee Department of General Services (DGS) advises motorists of temporary traffic impacts near the Tennessee State Capitol as roadway improvements continue on Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Boulevard.
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, and Friday, July 17, 2026, MLK Boulevard from 7th Avenue North to Representative John Lewis Way/5th Avenue North will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day for paving operations.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect temporary detours and brief delays. A traffic control map showing detour routes is included below for reference. Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time and follow posted traffic control signage.
Pedestrian access will remain available throughout the project.
DGS appreciates the public's patience as these roadway improvements are completed.
