24-Hour Healthcare Kiosk Installed in New Brunswick to Combat Opioid Crisis

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (October 5, 2024) - In a continued effort to combat the opioid epidemic and improve access to healthcare services, Middlesex County and the City of New Brunswick have unveiled a new 24-hour Healthcare Kiosk at 81 Remsen Ave. in front of the Unity Square Community Center/New Brunswick Fire Museum.

This installation is a direct result of the County's strategic use of funds from New Jersey's opioid settlement, ensuring that critical support is available to the community when needed most. The kiosk offers resources to individuals in need of support for opioid addiction, including information on harm reduction and connections to healthcare services.

"This healthcare kiosk is a testament to the power of collaboration between local government and community organizations in addressing public health crises," Mayor Jim Cahill said. "Together, we are making critical resources more accessible and empowering individuals to take steps toward recovery and well-being."

"Middlesex County is taking bold, proactive steps to address the opioid crisis head-on with innovative and impactful solutions," Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios said. "Through the Middlesex County Opioid Settlement Advisory Council, we are ensuring that every dollar we receive for a total of 18 years from New Jersey's settlement is strategically allocated to combat this devastating epidemic."

"The 24-hour Middlesex County Healthcare Kiosk in New Brunswick is the next step in the County's proactive, comprehensive care strategy to address this epidemic by making care available to those in need, when and where they need it," County Commissioner, chair of the County's Community Services Committee and member of the County's Opioid Settlement Advisory Council Claribel A. Azcona-Barber said.
