Rep. Fedorchak: These rules are textbook examples of government overreach

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) voted in favor of H.J. Res. 24 and H.J. Res. 75 this week to overturn two burdensome Biden administration energy regulations. For decades, federal efficiency standards have balanced energy conservation with affordability and practicality. However, the Biden administration used its regulatory authority to extreme ends, pushing energy policies that limit consumer choice, raise prices, and burden businesses.

"These excessive Biden administration regulations will cost businesses billions of dollars to replace perfectly good refrigeration equipment. These are textbook examples of government overreach. It's no wonder that before President Trump took office, 75 percent of the country thought we were heading in the wrong direction. House Republicans will continue to stand up for hardworking Americans with common sense solutions," Fedorchak said.

H.J. Res. 24, introduced by Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK), blocks the Department of Energy's (DOE) rule imposing unrealistic energy efficiency standards on walk-in coolers and freezers-rules that are neither technologically feasible nor economically justified.

H.J. Res. 75, introduced by Rep. Craig Goldman (R-TX), reverses a similar DOE rule targeting commercial refrigerators, freezers, and refrigerator-freezers, which would drive up costs and disrupt supply chains without delivering meaningful energy savings. According to the DOE's own estimates, it would take 94 years to recoup the costs associated with complying with the rule.
