Overland Park - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), spent Friday in the Kansas City and Leavenworth areas, touring local manufacturers and businesses to hear directly from employers in the technology, biosecurity, ethanol, power, and machining industries. He highlighted his dedication to pro-American business legislation like the Working Family Tax Cuts and the Homegrown Fertilizer Act, as well as his priority of cutting unnecessarily burdensome regulations that stifle business innovation.

Indra Air Traffic

Senator Marshall's first stop of the day was a tour of Indra Air Traffic's new facility. Headquartered in Olathe, Indra employs 200 people in the area, specializing in Air Traffic Management, surveillance radars, communications systems, and navigational aids. They discussed the FAA's air traffic control system modernization project and how Indra is filling the need for newer, safer technologies in air travel infrastructure.

Next, Senator Marshall toured Synexis in Overland Park, a cutting-edge company in the medical technology space, providing pathogen control for indoor spaces. They shared the biosecurity benefits their technology can have, including in the agriculture space to protect hatcheries and poultry from pathogens such as avian influenza.

Senator Marshall stopped by Lucas E3 in Lenexa, which offers blending, engineering, and 45Z tax credit eligibility services to ethanol plants. Senator Marshall emphasized his ongoing support for year-round E15 which would boost Kansas producers and lower the cost of gas for all Americans. They also discussed his Homegrown Fertilizer Act, which would expand domestic fertilizer production, including those using ethanol co-products, to lower the cost of fertilizer and reduce reliance on global markets.

At Lenexa Manufacturing Company, Senator Marshall toured their operation, which manufactures automated bakery packaging equipment for over 300 customers around the country. They discussed pro-manufacturing provisions in the Working Family Tax Cuts Act, including permanent 199A small business deductions and full expensing for capital investments, as well as Senator Marshall's longtime support of skilled labor and machinist education programs.
BPU Nearman Power Plant

In Kansas City, Senator Marshall toured BPU's Nearman Power Plant, a coal and natural-gas-powered generator that supplies power to customers in Wyandotte County and the surrounding area. The discussion centered around the Trump Administration's work to free fossil power plants from burdensome regulations so they can supply affordable power to their customers.

Senator Marshall's last stop of the day took him to Zephyr Products in Leavenworth, where he toured their metal fabrication shop and learned about their program to provide jobs for Lansing Correctional Facility inmates to reintegrate them into the workforce. The stop also included a meeting hosted by the National Tooling and Machining Association of Great Kansas City with manufacturers from the area to discuss his support for manufacturing, including provisions passed in the Working Family Tax Cuts Act.
