Alongside the proclamation, the County of San Luis Obispo invites the public to town halls on May 22 and May 29 to discuss new housing initiatives.

San Luis Obispo, CA-
The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has officially proclaimed May as Affordable Housing Month, recognizing the County's ongoing efforts to expand access to safe, stable, and affordable housing for residents across the region. The month-long initiative, led by the County's Department of Social Services Homeless Services Division and the Department of Planning and Building , will focus on progress made and opportunities available to address housing needs in the region.

"Affordable housing is key for our communities and local economy to thrive," said Cory Hanh, Long-Range Planning Division Manager for the Department of Planning and Building. "The County recognizes this and is taking strategic action with our communities, builders, and non-profit organizations to deliver grounded solutions that accelerate affordable housing production."

As part of this initiative, the County of San Luis Obispo's Planning and Building Department, in partnership with local non-profit housing providers, are hosting two town hall meetings focused on affordable housing efforts, including the establishment of a new Regional Housing Fund that will meaningfully support the creation of new housing opportunities.

Here is additional information on the two upcoming town hall events:

  • Thursday, May 22 - 6:00 to 7:30pm at the Oak Park Community Room, located at 901 30th Street in Paso Robles, CA
  • Thursday, May 29 - 6:00 to 7:30pm at the Oceano Community Center, located at 1425 19th Street in Oceano, CA
