WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H. Res. 481, a resolution condemning the rise in ideologically motivated attacks on Jewish Americans, including the violent firebombing in Boulder, Colorado. Congressman Harrigan is an original cosponsor of the resolution.
"Antisemitism in America is no longer just a warning sign. It's here, it's violent, and it's spreading," said Congressman Harrigan. "From Boulder to D.C., we've seen organized attacks against Jewish Americans carried out in the open. This resolution is one step, but stopping this will take real enforcement, real leadership, and zero tolerance for excuses."
The resolution responds to a pattern of violent attacks targeting Jewish communities, including the Boulder firebombing, the murder of Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C., and the attempted arson of the Pennsylvania Governor's residence. The suspects in each case claimed to be acting in the name of Palestine and expressed hatred toward the Jewish people.
H. Res. 481 reaffirms the House's commitment to defending religious freedom, condemning politically motivated violence, and confronting the rise of antisemitism across the United States. Congressman Harrigan is calling on the Senate to act immediately and ensure that every level of government treats this threat with the seriousness it demands.
